Why puppy coaching?

Puppy coaching gives your puppy the best start in life, supporting their training and development during their most important learning stages. Early guidance helps build good manners, confidence and positive socialisation, while preventing unwanted behaviours from becoming established. Through positive, structured and supportive sessions, I help guide your puppy through new experiences and help them settle into family life, setting them up to grow into a happy, balanced and resilient adult dog.

We also establish:

  • Self settling
  • Socialisation

Your puppy will learn:

• A reward marker

• A release cue

• Structured reinforcement timing

Week 2 - Confidence and environmental exposure

• Different surfaces

• Traffic and environmental noise

• Public environments

• Neutral exposure to dogs

• People of different appearances

Vet and groomer handling prep:

Week 3 - Foundational obedience & engagement

We build on: RecallA reliable recall is essential for

safety and freedom.

Sit, Drop & Stay - Impulse control foundations. These

behaviours teach patience, emotional regulation and

calm decision-making.
Leave It  - Critical safety cues to prevent scavenging

and conflict situations.

On Your Bed (Place Training) - This creates calmness during meals, visitors, busy household moments and prevents over-arousal. Each behaviour is taught with clarity, consistency and to set your pup up for success!

Week 4 - Biting, arousal and play skills (breed specific)

Puppy biting is normal — but unmanaged arousal can become problematic.

We work on:

• Teaching appropriate play intensity

• Redirecting biting without frustration

Breed-specific play outlets

• Developing calm engagement

• Recognising overstimulation before escalation

High-drive breeds, working breeds and sensitive breeds all require different approaches. Your puppy’s temperament guides our strategy

Ongoing support

Once you’ve completed the Puppy Foundations Programme, you have the option to continue progressing with structured Walk & Train Sessions

During these sessions, I will conduct a structured training walk focused on:

• Reinforcing loose-lead walking

• Strengthening recall

• Practising impulse control around distractions

• Proofing “leave it” and “drop”

• Maintaining calm neutrality around dogs and people

• Building confidence in varied environments
